EFFENFINE Playmat Care Instructions

(For optimal appearance, longevity and play performance)

1. Unboxing & Initial Setup

• Remove the playmat from its shipping wrap and any protective sleeve.

• Lay it flat on a clean, dry surface; allow it to relax for a few minutes to lose any roll curl from packaging.

• Inspect the printed surface and stitched edges for any transit damage. If you notice any issues, contact EFFENFINE support promptly.

• Prior to first use, wipe the surface gently with a soft, dry cloth to remove any dust or packaging residue.

2. Daily Use Guidelines

• Use the playmat on a clean, flat surface. Avoid placing heavy or sharp objects (e.g., laptops, metal tools, chair legs) directly on the mat for extended periods, as this can cause indentations or damage.

• Minimise eating or messy activities directly on the mat — oils, liquids and food crumbs can degrade the material or cause staining.

• After each use, gently shake off loose debris (cards, sleeves, dust) or use a soft brush/cloth to sweep away particles.

• Whenever transporting or storing the mat, roll it with the printed side facing outward to reduce curling of edges. Store in a protective tube or sleeve if available.

3. Cleaning & Maintenance

Spot Cleaning (recommended for routine care):

• Use a soft cloth slightly dampened with lukewarm water and a small drop of mild, fragrance-free dish soap.

• Gently dab or wipe any soiled area — avoid aggressive scrubbing especially over printed artwork, as it may fade or wear prematurely. Guides for similar playmats indicate hand-wash with mild soap and air-dry is best. 

• Rinse the area by wiping again with a clean damp cloth (water only) to remove soap residue.

• Lay flat on a clean towel with the rubber base or underside down and allow complete air-drying before rolling or storing. Avoid direct sunlight or heat sources while drying.

Deep Cleaning (for heavier soil):

• Fill a basin or sink with lukewarm water + mild soap. Submerge the mat gently and let soak briefly. Use a soft sponge to lightly clean surface.

• Rinse thoroughly under clean water.

• Lay flat to dry — do not machine wash or tumble dry (these can damage edge stitching and print). 

4. Storage & Long-Term Care

• When not in use, roll the mat with print side out, loosely (not too tight) and store horizontally or in a tube/carry bag. This prevents permanent creasing or curling of edges. 

• Avoid stacking heavy items on top of a stored mat, as this can cause flattening or indentations.

• Keep the mat away from prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, high heat or humidity — those can cause fading of the print, warping of base material or adhesive breakdown. 

• Before each use, unroll and allow the mat to settle on the playing surface for a few minutes to flatten completely and release any residual curl.

5. What to Avoid

• Avoid using harsh chemicals, bleach, strong solvents or abrasive cleaning tools/sponges — they can damage the print, material surface or stitching. 

• Do not machine wash or tumble dry (unless explicitly specified by EFFENFINE) — these can distort the rubber backing or shrink the fabric.

• Do not use the mat on rough, abrasive surfaces that may snag or tear the edges/stitching.

• Avoid leaving the mat under extremely heavy items (furniture, boxes) for long durations — this may cause permanent flattening or indentations.

• Avoid shoes, heavy tools, ink pens, wet liquids/spills directly on the mat if you wish to keep the print vibrant and clean.

6. Troubleshooting & Care Tips

• Edge curling: If you notice edges curling up, lay the mat flat print-side down overnight under a light weight (e.g., a few books) to help flatten. Then roll correctly for storage.

• Stains: For stubborn spots, use a mild soap solution and blot gently; act quickly after spills to reduce risk of permanent mark.

• Print fading: If the mat is used outdoors or near window light, consider rotating orientation occasionally and lower exposure to direct sunlight.

• Persistent odour: If stored in a damp area, unroll, air out in a well-ventilated dry space, and clean as per instructions above.

7. Warranty & Care Compliance

• Retaining proper care as outlined above will help preserve the mat’s appearance and performance — and may be required for any warranty/return claims.

• Keep your original purchase details, and inspect the mat periodically for wear, fraying or damage. Report any manufacturing defects to EFFENFINE within the specified warranty period.
